Math Quiz: NYT Learning Network

Through Math for America, I am part of an on-going collaboration with the New York Times Learning Network.  My latest contribution, a Test Yourself quiz-question, can be found here:

This question is based on a rash of bee hive burglaries in the Western U.S.  How much is a bee hive worth?

How funny to have stumbled across your blog. I read your NYT beehive question earlier this week as I saw it on the MFA facebook site (I am in MFA Berkeley). And then I saw this link to your blog from the scoop.it site which I learned about this evening during a GeoGebra webcast. I look forward to reading more about your teaching. I really love your curve-matching GeoGebra project and am thinking about doing a scaled-down version with my middle school students.

    Thanks for saying hi, Allison.

It’s nice to hear from someone from MfA Berkeley. It’s amazing how much MfA has done for me as a teacher, and it’s great to see the program expand in scope and impact.

Have a great year, and let me know how the curve-fitting project goes with your middle school kids!
